About

Isaac

I’m a Canadian ceramicist living in Calgary, Alberta, Treaty 7 Territory. I found the potter’s wheel in 2021 and fell in love with the craft nearly immediately. I typically make functional pottery now. My work is simple in form, but I attend to every piece with care and intention. I am drawn to the world of glaze chemistry and mix and test my own glazes. More recently I have had the opportunity to explore pit-firing, which has helped me expand my work beyond the functional and into more decorative work.

I have a BA in English from the University of Calgary and am an avid reader. But mostly I love to learn. As such, developing the diverse skills required to make good pots continues to be a rewarding experience. In ceramics, there’s always more to learn, and I truly feel so lucky to spend my days making pots.

Social media is not my favourite thing, but you can keep track of my process on Instagram, or join my newsletter for very occasional updates. Thank you kindly for taking the time to have a look at my work.

Juno

Juno is my studio pup and shadow. She’s a real princess who also loves to play hard. She gets up from the wheel anbd outside to move my body. Mostly she’s just incredibly cute and full of personality. She reminds me that to be alive is a gift, and that being adorable makes up for a multitude of funny habits.
